Mother
I was born in your abyss,
along with many other creatures.
We huddled in your translucent blanket,
sheltering in the darkness,
thriving in suspended incubation.
Oblivious to the threats outside,
we had you to protect us.
Always ready to become a martyr,
throw yourself on the rocks,
the crushing sound of your body our lullaby.
And we grew,
And we grew.
And when we reached the surface,
we forgot about you.
