Thank you. Stigmatising the victim, whether it is Women or Mother Earth, is society’s way of protecting itself from the breakdown of all the stereotypes that supposedly “keep it together” and “functioning in harmony”. I’m a brown gay man and occupational anxiety survivor and what I’ve learned is that I have no choice than to keep on shouting about injustice until someone listens. I wasn’t “lucky” to be raped by Weinstein so that my story tops Twitter headlines and results in the Me Too movement. But if this is what we all need to do, highlight our stories so that they become “noteworthy” in the media, so be it. So bring on all the words that people hate and be the “cry baby”. Some of us ARE listening. The way to fight stigma is to take these words and own them, and weaponise them to bring positive change in society.
